Review

The Four Seasons Casa Medina offers the perfect blend of historic architecture with contemporary design. Built in 1945 and converted into a hotel in 1988, Casa Medina has the distinction of being declared a monument of culture by the Colombian Ministry of Culture. From the imposing façade that greets you on arrival through to the beautifully crafted interiors of high beams, wooden floors and exposed brickwork, it is hard not to be impressed by this beautiful property. Breakfast – served in the gorgeous Castanyoles terrace restaurant – is not to be missed!

Location

The Four Season Casa Medina is approx. 40 minutes by taxi from Bogota’s El Dorado airport. The gourmet district, Zona G, is on your doorstep – providing a plethora of restuarants to choose from. The historic Candelaria district is around 30 mins by taxi.

Layout

The only chink in the armour, it is quite easy to get a little turned around once inside. The Mediterranean-themed Castanyoles restaurant and it’s adjoining atrium dining room are at the heart of the hotel. Surrounding the restaurant & bar area on the ground floor is the lobby, concierge desk and gift shop. The bedrooms and the penthouse suite are all located on the 3 floors above.

Rooms

Casa Medina has 43 rooms and 19 suites. The rooms are split in to Superior, Deluxe, Premium and Grand Premium; and the suites offer 11 Executive, 7 One-Bedroom and 1 Penthouse. All provide coffee & tea making facilities, mini-bar, hair dryer, flat-screen TV with cable, iPod docking and Wi-Fi.

Features

The cocktail bar and coffee bar, along with the in-house restaurant, are well worth sampling a drink and some tapas in the very least – despite Zona G’s plentiful opportunities that await you outside. There is also a 24-hour oxygenated gym (Bogota is at 2,640 metres) and a spa offering a range of tempting treatments, such as the ‘forbidden fruit’ body scrub or the green-coffee facial wrap.

Difficult to fault anything!

Signage in the hotel could be better. Price, but not unjustified.
